A reflexology foot massage is a non-invasive and therapeutic form of healing. The practice dates back to around 5,000 years ago to ancient China.
The practice is based upon the principle of ten longitudinal zones or energy pathways running through the body, from the feet and upwards towards the head. These energy channels begin to activate from the nerve endings in the feet.
The feet are like a map of the body – when the body and energy levels are out of balance, they do not flow efficiently. Using a thumb and finger technique, gentle pressure is applied to your feet and sometimes to your hands, to stimulate the body’s own healing process. By detecting subtle movements in specific areas of the feet, it is possible to explore corresponding changes in these energetic pathways around your body.
Reflexology encourages the mind and body to restore itself to its own natural balance. As well as healing, reflexology is also an opportunity for you to totally relax, quieten the mind, and unwind from the whirlwind of a busy lifestyle.
